ABOUT THE CHINA CLIPPER
This luxurious flying ship was one of a fleet of three Clipper ships, China, Hawaii and Philippine, operated on regular weekly trips between California and the Orient by Pan American Airways. Stops were made at the Hawaiian, Midway, Wake, Guam, and Philippine Islands, enroute, reducing a month's sea voyage to five and one half days.
These planes were capable of carrying a ton of mail and express—would accommodate forty seated or eighteen sleeping passengers on a normal flight. These planes had a fuel capacity for a flight of 3000 miles, with a high speed of 180 miles per hour.
